Accessibility & Inclusion

Accessibility and inclusion are not add-ons at Dreamscape Community Connections — they are foundational to how the project is being developed.

The hub is shaped with an understanding that people experience the world differently, and that access needs, sensory tolerance, energy levels, and capacity can change from day to day.

This page explains how accessibility is considered across both in-person and online spaces, what people can expect, and the boundaries that help keep the community safe, respectful, and low pressure.

You do not need a diagnosis, referral, label, or explanation to be welcome here.

A calm, light-filled space designed to feel safe, quiet, and welcoming

How accessibility is approached

Accessibility at Dreamscape Community Connections is approached through thoughtful design, flexibility, and ongoing reflection rather than fixed assumptions.

The project prioritises:

  • Clear, kind communication
  • Sensory awareness
  • Flexible participation
  • Low-pressure ways of being present

Accessibility is understood as something that evolves — not something that can be “completed” or perfected.

Community feedback, lived experience, and capacity help shape how access is supported over time.

Quiet is welcome.
Stepping back is okay.
Participation is always a choice.

  • Sensory consideration

Spaces and activities are planned with awareness of noise levels, lighting, pacing, and visual stimulation.

  • Flexible participation

People may arrive late, leave early, observe quietly, or engage in ways that feel manageable.

  • Respect for capacity

Energy, health, and comfort levels are understood to fluctuate and are respected without question..

Clear boundaries support accessibility

Not a clinical or medical service

Dreamscape Community Connections is not a medical, clinical, diagnostic, counselling, or therapeutic service.

It does not provide treatment, diagnosis, assessment, or crisis intervention.

Not a replacement for professional support

Dreamscape Community Connections does not replace professional, clinical, or statutory services.

Where appropriate, the project may involve or signpost to professional support, but participation at Dreamscape should not be viewed as a substitute for accessing professional help when needed.

A community space, not a service provider

Dreamscape Community Connections is a community-led space focused on connection, accessibility, and belonging — not a commissioned service or care provider.

Clear boundaries help ensure transparency, safety, and appropriate expectations for everyone involved.

You do not need to explain yourself

There is no requirement to disclose personal information, diagnoses, medical history, or access needs in order to be welcome.

People are trusted to know their own limits, comfort levels, and capacity.

Where access questions or adjustments are helpful, people are welcome to ask — but privacy, silence, and boundaries are equally respected.

Online access & flexible connection

Dreamscape Community Connections includes online community spaces and digital options for people who may not be able to attend in person, prefer online connection, or need more flexible ways to engage.

Online access offers a lower-demand way to connect from home, at a pace that feels manageable, without the sensory, physical, or logistical pressures of in-person spaces.

Online spaces follow the same accessibility principles as the physical Space, including:

  • Low pressure participation
  • Optional engagement
  • Clear boundaries and expectations
  • A non-clinical, community-led approach

Online connection is offered as an option — not an expectation.

How online spaces are structured

Some online community spaces are delivered through a connected sister arm of Dreamscape, allowing different levels of connection while maintaining clear governance and boundaries.

These online spaces are designed to meet people where they are, and may include:

  • Explorer — a gentle, low-pressure starting point for those who want to look around, read, or connect quietly
  • Nurturer — a supportive space for deeper connection, shared reflection, and gentle community engagement
  • Flourisher — a more involved option for those who feel ready for richer connection, contribution, or shared activity

People are free to move between levels, step back, or pause entirely. There is no requirement to progress or remain at any particular level.

Online spaces are community-led and non-clinical, and do not replace professional or statutory support.

Accessibility, governance & accountability

Accessibility at Dreamscape Community Connections is supported through careful planning, transparent decision-making, and responsible use of funding.

The project is currently in development, with Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) registration in process. This structure is being pursued to ensure clear governance, accountability, and that any future surplus is reinvested for community benefit.

Funding and donations help make accessibility possible in practical ways — including planning, online provision, preparation for physical spaces, and ensuring decisions are made sustainably rather than reactively.

Accessibility is approached with honesty about capacity and limitations, alongside a commitment to communicate clearly as the project develops.
