Christmas Kindness Project: The Present Hunt & How It Grew
Share
The Christmas Kindness Project – Christmas Present Hunt began as a small, personal act of kindness led by Mary through parts of Dreamscape Inclusive Solutions.
At the time, there was no community hub, no long-term plan, and no intention for scale. It was simply a response to noticing gaps — people being overlooked, struggling quietly, or feeling disconnected during a season that can be difficult for many.
That early project became the starting point of what would later grow into something much bigger.
A gentle start: Christmas 2024
In 2024, the Christmas Present Hunt supported around 20–30 presents.
It was intentionally small and carefully held. There was no public campaign, no pressure, and no expectation for it to become more than it was. The focus was on care, consent, and dignity — making sure the kindness offered felt safe and respectful.
At this stage, it was simply about doing something, rather than building anything.
The spark of something more: 2025
During 2025, the idea of Dreamscape Community Hub began to take shape.
As conversations grew locally and more people shared similar experiences of isolation, exclusion, or needing slower, safer spaces, it became clear that something was missing — not services, but connection that felt accessible and human.
This is where the idea of creating a bridge emerged.
A bridge between people and community.Between giving and receiving.Between online and in-person connection. Between kindness and sustainability.
Christmas 2025: Doing it differently
By Christmas 2025, the Christmas Present Hunt had grown to support around 50 presents.
This year looked different.
Some presents were made possible through a percentage of profits from Dreamscape Inclusive Solutions, with a conscious decision to redirect resources into community kindness rather than traditional promotions.
Others were donated by individuals who wanted to be involved in a quieter, more meaningful way.
To keep things light and engaging, clues shared on social media became part of the project — drawing over 4,000 people to the posts and helping the project reach far beyond what was expected, without pressure or obligation.
What remained constant was the intention:
Kindness without spectacle.Participation without pressure. Dignity at the centre.
What became clear
Across 2024 and 2025, one thing stood out clearly.
People didn’t just want gifts — they wanted connection, recognition, and to feel considered.
The Christmas Present Hunt highlighted the need for:
• Slower, more accessible community spaces
• Projects rooted in care rather than performance
• Community-led approaches that don’t require explanation
This realisation directly shaped the development of Dreamscape Community Hub.
January 2026: Looking forward
We are now in January 2026, and the Christmas Kindness Project feels like the foundation of something more intentional.
With learning from previous years, the hope is that Christmas 2026 will be:
• Better supported
• More accessible
• More thoughtfully structured
Not bigger for the sake of numbers — but stronger, clearer, and better resourced, while staying true to the values that started it all.
Any growth will be approached carefully, ensuring the project remains ethical, manageable, and community-led.
Project status & transparency
The Christmas Kindness Project sits within the wider development of Dreamscape Community Hub, which is currently working towards Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) registration.
Any future support, donations, or funding connected to this project will be handled transparently and used for community benefit.
Details for Christmas 2026 will only be shared when plans are ready and can be delivered responsibly.
Safety note
This project is community-led and non-clinical. It does not replace professional, statutory, or emergency support.
